Trentino cycle paths: the routes on Alpe Cimbra
On Alpe Cimbra you can have access to three splendid cycle paths in Trentino. Routes particularly suitable for families with children - and which do not require an electric bicycle - but also for those who love traveling long distances through places of historical, cultural and landscape interest.

The three cycle paths on Alpe Cimbra
The three cycle paths in Trentino that can be reached from Alpe Cimbra are the Luserna-Roana cycle path and two other routes, located a few kilometers down the valley: the Valsugana cycle path and the Sole cycle path, which leads from Calliano to Rovereto-Riva del Garda in one direction or towards Trento and Bolzano in the other.
Upon request you can use the Bike Shuttle service, a van capable of transporting 8 passengers and up to 10 bicycles, 7 days a week.

We like to call it the Milky Way of MTB because the flavor you can smell in the air is precisely that of milk! There are many mountain huts that can be found starting from Vezzene - one of the largest mountain pastures in Europe - up to Roana in the Asiago plateau. Thirty kilometers of cycle/pedestrian path between mountain huts, woods, mountain pastures, villages and lakes, in an environment where the color green reigns supreme, interrupted by the colors of the cows' coats. Beautiful cows, just the ones you imagine when you think of cows in the pasture. And they are also nice... if you get close they let you pet them and lick your hand!
We start from Luserna (1315 m above sea level), where before leaving or returning we recommend visiting the Luserna Documentation Center which hosts ethnographic and historical exhibitions, and from here we continue entering the centuries-old white fir forests. Once you arrive near Malga Millegrobbe (1412 m above sea level), take the stretch that runs alongside the trenches - with a short detour you can visit the Forte Werk Lusérn - and from here the journey between the mountain pastures begins: Malga Basson di sopra, Malga Busa Bisletto , Malga Costesin, Malga Camporosà, Casara Mandrielle, Casara di Campolongo and Malga Gruppach just to name a few, and in these mountain huts it is possible to stop to taste the delicious cheeses. Once past the Campolongo area, you descend along Mount Erio along the military road that leads to the Roana lake (1096 m above sea level).
Cows are not the only animals you will encounter along the route...be careful, if you spy you will see the friendly marmots who always bring a lot of joy with their calls. If you return in the afternoon it will be easy to encounter roe deer or deer.
One of the most famous cycle paths in Trentino, located a few minutes from Alpe Cimbra starting from Vigolana. The Valsugana cycle path is a beautiful route, suitable for families but also for those who love long distances, which from Lake Caldonazzo and following the course of the Brenta river - passing through the many charming villages of Valsugana - reaches Bassano del Grappa . What makes it very fascinating is the variety of the landscape: from the large body of water of Lake Caldonazzo, to the expanses of apple trees - in bloom they are a spectacle - to the many villages. And then the sound of the Brenta river accompanies us along this journey, on a flat route, for 77 km. Along the route you will come across many Bicigrills where you can stop or ask for support in case of punctures or other mechanical problems. For the return, if you are tired, there is the possibility of returning by train: be careful, in summer the maximum number of spaces for bicycles is limited.
Departure: Pergine Valsugana
Arrival: Bassano del Grappa
Type of surface: asphalted
Average slope: 0.5%
Maximum gradient: 22%
Type of path: cycle path
Traffic: limited and mixed for some municipal sections
This beautiful cycle route connects Alpe Cimbra - from Calliano, just 10 km from Folgaria, or from Vigolana going down to Mattarello - in one direction to Lake Garda, passing through Rovereto up to Torbole and Riva, and in the other to Trento and Bolzano. In both directions the cycle path follows the Adige Valley and therefore the sound of the water will accompany us along the entire journey.
It's difficult to suggest one of the two directions... we advise you to follow both! Choosing the direction towards Garda, you quickly reach the center of Rovereto where, taking some time, you can visit the Mart Museum, the Bell of the Fallen or take the Silk walk. Another spectacular point is Lake Loppio, one of the most important and famous protected biotopes in Trentino, which owes its notoriety to its particular origin; today it is no longer a lake but a marshy basin. The lake emptied between 1939 and 1940 due to work done for the construction of a tunnel. Here, through a route, you can discover the archaeological site of S.Andrea, which contains important historical evidence from prehistory to the First World War. Continuing you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Lake Garda, and then go down to refresh yourself on its banks.
If you still have energy from Riva you can reach Arco and enter another splendid cycle path that leads from Arco to Castel Toblino.
We tried it for you and it is definitely doable...maybe when you return from Calliano book the bike shuttle!
Equally beautiful and evocative is the direction that leads towards Trento and then continues to Bolzano (from here it is possible to return by train to Trento or Rovereto): it is certainly worth dedicating some time to visiting the historic center of Trento and to its museums.
